“The Creeper” - San Jose Police Officer David Strunk As I watch this video and decide whether to post or not to post, I replay the experiences over and over in my head regarding my interactions with Officer David Strunk, “The Creeper”. I try to examine both sides of any issue and I want to know why he was such an asshole to me when I was living on the streets. He was just brutal with the homeless community and to this day this guy haunts me. I had a similar experience with a 6th grade teacher (MR. POCK) and to this day I get bothered thinking of him. Just typing this brief description makes me feel uncomfortable but this is a must in my recovery. I am what’s called a wounded healer. Posting these videos and telling my story is a way for me to heal. This is also a way to educate police officers on how people on the other side of the law feel, especially the forgot population, the people holding on by a thread. The first time I met Officer Strunk he had his shotgun pointed at me and was yelling that he was “going to blow my fucking head off!”. He also said he was going to kill my dog. He made numerous threats to me and my other homeless friends nonstop. He also issued tickets for expired registration on private property even though I had permission to park in the Pep Boys parking lot from the store manager. In exchange for staying in their over flow parking lot located behind the tire shop, I would clean the parking lots at night. I was also a Paying Customer of the tire shop during his reign of terror on the homeless community. Officer Strunk gave me those tickets just to flex his muscle and add insult to injury. He did not believe or even want to listen to my side of the story. I didn’t matter to him. I have never in my life been treated so poorly. It was as if I was being handled by law enforcement in Russia or North Korea. San Jose Police officer David Strunk’s approach was not what I expected from the San Jose Police Department. He yelled at me and tormented me, as if he was the “Big Bad Bully” on the playground. It was humiliating and disgusting. Since he had a high ranking, he had the superiority over all the other officers that would arrive on the scene. All of his coworkers watched how he treated me and they said nothing. By keeping their mouths shut they condoned his behavior and allowed this “Bully Cop” to continue his wrath against people who have it the hardest. If I was a subordinate cop in that situation I would have called him out and put him in his place. You don’t treat any human being like that ever! No matter who they are. Officer Strunk said and did things that I didn’t think law enforcement in our city would ever do. Also, be aware that I had about 7 different interactions with him that had the same outcome. I do realize that the “Shady City” of San Jose put a massive amount of pressure on these officers to clean up the streets for Super Bowl 50. I was a casualty of this massive assault on the people that have it the hardest. People make mistakes and I would like to understand Officer Stunk more and why he thought this was the best approach. I want him to realize how his aggressive tactics make people feel and how many homeless people he hurt. Even if he never laid his hands on anyone, his words and aggressive actions where worse than just giving someone the beat down. I would have preferred if he just kept his mouth shut and beat me to a bloody pulp. It may have hurt less. This Video was filmed almost a year into my sobriety and I figured it was time to address my issues with Officer Strunk, “The Creeper”.
